Reflection
In this unit I thought that the descriptive writing was quite fun and the language analysis was pretty boring and dry. I have never like writing language analysis they have never appealed to me in a positive way. I have always thought that descriptive writing was interesting because I like being able to describe a object with my own words. For my portfolio I read Carte Blance the new james bond book. For my language analysis I think I could have done better. The reason why I think this is because I rushed through the analysis and just got them out of my way. I did this because I have been very busy with other subjects and I just did not have the time to take my time and go through them properly.
Language Analysis #4
James Bond Carte Blanche (pg 35)
Deaver, Jeffery. Carte blanche: the new James Bond novel. New York: Simon & Schuster, 2011. Print.
The dominant impression is interest. This makes the reader interested because the reader will want to know who Bond is going to speak to. In this Passage Bond steps into his car and drives away. The writer uses the word "murmured" for a auditory device . This word means that the car made a hum like noise and bursted into life.

Language Analysis #3
James Bond Carte Blanche (Pg, 26-27)
Deaver, Jeffery. Carte blanche: the new James Bond novel. New York: Simon & Schuster, 2011. Print.
The dominant impression is shame. In this passage the young polish agent is badly hurt and could die in minutes. Bond is holding a stick in the polish mans wound to stop him from dying. The polish man was showing agony. The writer visualized this by saying that the polish man has "a mask of agony" meaning that he is in a lot of pain. To visualize how much blood was lost instead of say the man lost a lot of blood the writer said he lost a "great deal of blood" which is the same as saying a lot but it makes it sound more important in some ways.

Hunger games (chapter 13-14)
Collins, Suzanne. The Hunger Games. New York: Scholastic Press, 2008. Print.
The dominant impression is tension. The author is trying to show tension in this part because Katniss could die from the tracker jackers, she may even fall. "The jagged side of her knife" is used in this passage for a visual descriptive. The Author used this word to show how Katniss was going to saw the branch off the tree trunk.

Language Analysis #1
James Bond, Carte Blanche. (pg, 12-13)
Deaver, Jeffery. Carte blanche: the new James Bond novel. New York: Simon & Schuster, 2011. Print.
The dominant impression of the passage is worry. In this passage Bond is trying to explain a plan to two polish agents. They both are very worried about this plan. When reading this passage knowing that the two polish agents are worried makes you think that the plan is not going to go the right way. The language used in this passage is mainly visual but there is one that is used for smell. "Bond was hit by the smell of a burning cigarette". The two words "burning cigarette" is used for smell. Knowing that bond just quit smoking the smell of the burning cigarette makes him loose focus. "As the Irishman walks out his feet splayed". The word "splayed" is another way of saying that his feet are spread a part. This word is used to visualize how the irishman is standing.

Melon and Pomegranate descriptions
The yellow melons skin was thick and tough. The inside was peachy and the texture was smooth and slimy. It had a weak sweetness to its taste, the fresher the melon the sweeter the taste will become. Holding the melon in my hand it reminded me the first time I ate melon. When I was younger the melon was very heavy I could barely keep it in my hands. When I held it in class it felt lighter that my History text book. The seeds orange and slimy all connected together with some sort of vein like material.
The pomegranate had a shrub like skin. The colour was almost apple like. The texture reminded me of a fresh turnip or potato which has just been pulled from the ground, rough yet smooth at the same time. Cutting though the strong skin, the sound was like rubbing your hands on a plastic table it made a bumping like noise when Mrs Erickson cut through. The inside was very neat and the red seeds formed a abnormal shape in the skink of the pomegranate. Bitting into the seedling was soft at the start and in the middle hard. The seedling tasted sweet and reminded me of a sour throat tablet I use to have all the time.

Description of Mrs Erickson's room
When walking into Mrs Ericksons classroom I feel like I am about to be educated. All the quotes on the wall relax my mind when I am doing a piece of work in class. The disgusting smell of new carpet hits my nose when I sit down. There is always a very artistic picture on the white board made by Mrs Ericksons daughter (I think). The piece of art always make me smile and say to myself thank god it Friday (for example). When I turn my head to the right I see rows of depressing looking desks and chairs which have dull plain greyish colour.
